What is DarkModus?
DarkModus is a small, tight-knit community of creators and enthusiasts created to serve as a medium of discussion and socialization. We encourage creativity, freedom, and above all, individuality. It was created as a passion project between a designer and a developer from two separate boards (Eternal.is and Darkr.net). It runs on an extremely modified version of MyBB, and has been around since 2018, having officially launched on [TBA].
Whilst we attempt to edit or remove any messages containing inappropriate, sexually oriented, abusive, hateful, slanderous, or threatening material that could be considered invasive of a person's privacy, or which would otherwise violate any kind of law, it is impossible for us to review every message posted on DarkModus. For this reason, you acknowledge that all messages posted on this discussion board express the views and opinions of the original message author and not necessarily the views of this website. Therefore we take no responsibility and cannot be held liable for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy and completeness of every message.
Any information provided to these forums by you, the user, will not be disclosed to any third party without your complete consent, although the staff of DarkModus cannot be held liable for any hacking attempt in which your data is compromised.
By using this website, you agree that you will not post any material which is knowingly false, inaccurate, abusive, hateful, harassing, sexually oriented, threatening, or invasive of a person's privacy, or any other material which may violate any applicable laws.
Failure to comply with these rules may result in a termination of your account, account suspension, or permanent ban of access to these forums. Your IP address is recorded with each post you make on this website, and is retrievable by the forum staff if need-be. You agree that we have the ability and right to remove, edit, or lock any account or messages at any time should it be seen fit to do so. You also agree that any information you enter on this website is allowed to be stored in a database, that it is done so actively, and that "cookies" are stored on your computer to save your login information.
Registered users may choose to create a post or thread anonymously. This is done to potentially protect a users privacy in sensitive topics. An anonymous poster's identity is shown to staff for moderation purposes, however our staff agree to not disclosing information about the anonymous poster.
When uploading avatar images to DarkModus, users are presented with an avatar cropping tool. This tool will both crop the avatar to a square, but also scale the cropped avatar up or down to fit DarkModus' specific avatar requirements seemlessly, so users don't have to open image editing software to crop avatars. To upload an avatar, navigate to the Account section in the user control panel.
DarkModus is not bullet-proof, and as such, we're always looking for ways to improve the site. Feedback should be given in the Feedback forum, but bugs should be reported via the Bugtracker, including security vulnerabilities. Bugs that are reported should be marked appropriately, and if they fall in-between categories, marked to your best ability. Security vulnerabilities should, regardless of category overlap, be marked as vulnerabilities. Doing so will make the report private between staff members and the reporting user, until the bug is fixed, in which case it will then become public.
Users may hold private conversations with each other on the board without needing to exchange contact information. Simply click on the envelope at the top of the page by your user avatar to navigate to your conversations page.
DarkModus is a closed board. Registration requires an active invitation code from an already-registered user. Users may navigate to the main user control panel page to find a single-user invitation code to invite a friend. On occasion, registration is opened, and an infinite-use invitation code may be used to register. During these occasions, the invitation code is already filled out in the registration form.
Users may be mentioned in posts to attract their specific attention to a post or to link to their profile. To mention a user, simple type the at-symbol (@) followed by their username surrounded by either apostrophes, quotation marks, or graves (`). You may also mention a user by putting the at-symbol followed by their user id (which can be found on the user in questions' profile).
DarkModus provides a custom notifications system to keep you updated with various activities around the board regarding your account. Notifications are given to users if they are mentioned, if a thread they have created is replied to, if they are quoted in a post, or if their reputation has been modified.
On various pages you may use the page-up and page-down keys on your keyboard to quickly jump between the most important content. This is best used on threads when viewing posts, but is available on a number of pages.
Users may choose to personalize posts further with postbit backgrounds. These are images that are uploaded by a user, which are shown behind their user-bit on posts. To upload a postbit background, simply navigate to the Features section in the user control panel.
Users may choose to personalize their profiles by linking a profile background image. To add a profile background image, simply navigate to the Account section in the user control panel and paste a direct link to an image.
Users may leave comments on each others profiles as a means of small communication. Profile comments only provide a smaller, public form of interaction between users, and is not meant to hold full conversations. To leave a comment on a users' profile, simply navigate to their profile, enter a comment, and press send.
If you are looking for discussions to partake in, you can find a random thread by appending '/random' to the main URL (e.g. https://darkmodus.com/random) or by appending '/random' to a forum URL (e.g. https://darkmodus.com/forum/Technology/random)
Theme Color Changer
Users may choose to personalize their DarkModus experience by changing the highlight color of the website. Colors can be borrowed from other users by clicking on a color on their profile. To change the color of the site, as well as manage colors you own, simply navigate to the Features section in the user control panel.
Two-Factor Authentication (often shortened to '2FA') is an additional security layer to user accounts that may be enabled to prevent unwanted logins to accounts, should that possibility arise. This feature requires an application on a separate device to work to its fullest extent (for mobile phones, a good application to download is Google Authenticator). To enable or disable this feature, navigate to the Security section in the user control panel and follow the instructions there.
...And much more
Many features are constantly in the works, and the site is constantly updated. Just check back every now and then anytime you need information on a new feature.
